Electric fan for 2 liter(69)
Submitted by Jon Hayden
Finding an electric radiator fan to fit the close clearance between the radiator and the long shaft (fan clutch removed) on a 2000's water pump was a real challenge. The clearance on our '69 2000 measured only 2 1/8", but the 14 inch puller fan (P/N BCI-75083) from Summit Racing is a quality Italian-made unit and is a genuine 2" thick. Owners should be advised to measure the clearance on their cars carefully before ordering, but ours fit with 1/8" to spare. The fan covers the finned area of the radiator perfectly, and preserves the air scoop mounted to the bottom. With a thermo switch, you get faster warm-ups and super quiet operation. Because it covers the maximum area possible, it also runs only occasionally and is really efficient.
Note:The installation is easier if you use the Hayden (no relation) Quick-Mount kit (P/N HDN 210, $4.99 from O'Reilly) rather than the mounts that come with the fan from Summit. You can really snug the fan up close to the radiator with no slack.
