We are doing a VG30 swap also...
Tom Dockery has a VG33(pathfinder intake mod) in his 510...check out the beautiful headers!
It made serious hp/tq, something close to 268hp...it's bee nplagued with oiling issues.
His 510 is at the shop now getting...drumroll please...a 400+hp S13SR20DET drivetrain swap
Alvin do you know if he selling his engine ?

I saw Tom's old VG33 last weekend, and it has found a new home with a dedicated VG30ET powered 510 owner. It is going to be parted out and it's parts (such as the ultra cool ported heads) used on a monster VG30ET rebuild...

Like Alvin said, Tom's hybrid VG33E engine was plagued with oiling issues from the start and caused Tom nothing but grief and lots of dollars. He is going to be much happier with his SR...

It's sounding like the SR is a pretty popular motor. I was picking up a Hurst 5 speed shift knob on Saturday, went to a local speed shop. After drooling over the superchargers, I got talking with the owner. He says he brings in 3 -6 a month brand new in a crate. He states that people are swapping them into all kinds of cars. Says he's sold almost 15 so far this year.

What about a VR38DETT engine for a swap.

I have a VG30ET jap spec engine in my garage that uses a different intake manifold from what I have seen. It is similar to the Maxima intake except that it is turbo and was in a rear wheel drive car of some kind in Japan. It runs down the side of the motor to the turbo, which I planned on moving over to where the battery sits in a Roadster. I read somewhere that this was a superior intake manifold as it had some kind of valving system that would improve torque at low rpm then open and breath at higher rpm. I had planned to do this motor (also got a 5 speed trans) for a '68. However, this car may very well go to my daughter, and 270hp (conservative estimate based on 10lbs of boost intercooled, on 5lbs stock uncooled it was rated at 215hp) plus a ton of torque is not a good idea for her. My good friend and cylinder head/race engine guru has suggested the old school idea of doing a turbocharged FI 1600 instead... just to keep things different out there and maintain the balance of the car. 200hp was the target... still a lot for my daughter, but with a careful eye on her she would be ok.

Anyway, this motor and trans (both in excellent shape, engine is low miles, plus I have the 300zx computer) may become available. Unfortunately it is located in Bonney Lake, WA...

The SR seemed to be the engine swap of choice at the autocross on Sunday. Running them in Toyota's, Honda's, and most everything else. Sounds like a very versatile platform with an abundance of superchargers, turbochargers, and aftermarket parts to customize ones particular needs. Maybe one day.

I know this might be a shot in the dark 12 years later, did you have any luck with the swap you were doing?
