Roadster Driving Albums

Post by Brad Lustig »

Thanks to Linda for starting the other thread. I thought I'd start another one. What albums are your favorite to listen to while driving?

I gave up listening to albums while driving. It was too difficult to change them on the turntable, and the needle kept skipping every time I hit a bump or the wind gusted just right...

I didn't really start the other thread, I was just the first one to get the ball rolling and post.
As for this thread...well I usually customize albums these days and mix and match tunes. But if I had to choose complete albums to play in the Roadster what comes to mind is:
for nice summer nights: Sketches of Spain-Miles Davis

more upbeat: The Very Best of Manu Dibango: Afridelic

Come on, if Chrysler can do it, surely you can figure out how to get an LP player in your Datsun.

Back in the '70s, I had a reverb in my roadster. Had to finally take it out because the suspension would make the spring inside do all sorts of weird things while I was driving.

Since this is the 40 year anniversary of the Summer of Love (1967) here are a few albums you might have been hearing on the radio in your brand new 1967 Datsun Roadster............

Put on your bell bottoms, tye-dyed t-shirt and listen to the period-correct music :-)

"Surrealistic Pillow" Jeferson Airplane
"Grateful Dead " Grateful Dead
"Are you Experienced?" The Jimi Hendrix Experience

I'll bet if everyone put their favorite song while driving the car it would make an awesome album . lol . (memory chip ) to put together and play while driving . if that makes sense . like acdc for those about to rock . now it's not one of my favorite songs of them at all But , when I'm in the Roadster , it's the shit ! I turn it up and it has something more when I'm driving that car . idk am I alone in this ? or would it make a great cd? or whatever it's called now .

Some great albums so far!

Even though I’ve fully converted to streaming and digital music years ago, I still love albums and the concept of an album.
A few that I keep in my phone while travelling, which are good Roadster soundtracks....depending on the mood:
Grant Green- Alive!
Scorpions - World Wide Live
NOFX- Self Entitled
The Record Company- Give it Back to You
Robin Trower- Bridge of Sighs

(Edit- just noticed the thread necromancy)
