A little update: Decided against the MTL90 but did go ahead and R/R about 1/2 of the tranny oil with The GM Friction modifier. Results are surprisingly positive at present. Even on colder AM drive it is relatively smoother in the last 300 miles or so since replacing. My crunchy 3-2 downshifts have been virtually eliminated once warmed up. My tranny has not seen any work in the last 40 years + and so far so good. If at any point in the future it decides to go south, it just needs a rebuild. Know I’m just buying time but very satisfied at present.

Appreciate the update! I'm buying some Swepco for the Datsun for Christmas.
