Windshield Washer on 1969 SRL

Post by roysuecan »

My windshield washer water container won't hold water. It leaks out of the motor mounted to the bottom of the container. The problem is the seal behind the impeller inside the motor has failed. Has anyone replaced this seal? If so, how did you find a replacement and where would I go to get one?

Thanks

It's the impeller shaft seal that's leaking.
The shaft diameter is about 0.125" and the bore is about 0.4". The seal is about 0.25" thick. Is there a place where you can order small radial shaft seals by size? I haven't been able to find one so far.

That's a great site of odball stuff like this. They were limited on seals this small and didn't have anything close.
Thanks anyway

Roy, I have a spare I can send if you cover the mailing. (only several ounces from 97031 to you) I've not looked at it lately or bench tested, so it might be a working swap or use for parts. Dave
