1965 1500 in France

Hello dear Roadster enthusiast.

I'm Philippe from France and i just bought a nicely restored SPL 310 from 1965.
There is only a few of those on the old continent so i'll be definitly looking for some answers and parts on your side of the world.

I'll post some pictures of some trim I'm missing or questions i have on the car.

Quick question on the electrical side of the 1500 1965.
I identified the positiv ground setup, though I’m not sure wether I have a generator or a Dynamo. There is a voltage regulator which seem to be bad as my battery is overcharging and smell like rotten eggs.
I attach pictures of the generator (I think) and the cottage regulator which seems to be bad. I plan to take the VR to the local electronic shop to test it.
I can use the roadster for few miles but after the 900km we did I feel lucky the car didn’t burned down.
What do you think should be the next move on the electrical issue?

You need to read some voltages when the car is running to confirm what is happening.
Battery voltage before starting should be 12-12.8V
During cranking it may drop to 10V.
Once running the Voltage Regulator should raise the battery voltage to 13.8 - 14V.
The car is fitted with an alternator and usually the only issue they have is low output due to worn brushes (lack of decent spring tension on the brush).
If you do determine that the VR is faulty, I have one that was originally fitted to my car. I assume it is a worker but I replaced it with a new one so I can't guarantee it.
Make sure your Auto Electrician is fully aware the car has POSITIVE GROUND electrics

Your wiring has been hacked some. Especially the alternator.

I put a voltmeter on the battery while the car is running and with 10% throttle i read 15.4 to 15.9V which seems not right according to what i've read.
I'm thinking about converting to internally regulated generator to solve this issue.

@curtis, i think the wiring was completly redone on the car or at least the wiring protection.
So this is definitly an alternator and not a dynamo?

An alternator. If you take off that curved aluminium cover plate you should see the brush and diode assembly underneath.
That voltage is too high but a faulty battery may be causing it. If you can try a different battery and re-do the measurements that will help to narrow down the fault.
