Tonneau cover shrinkage

My 1970 1600 has a Tonneau cover that I’m assuming once fit the car. The whole thing seems to have shrunken by 2-3mm. I can get the rear portion to fit, but it’s tight. Right around the seats and forward, the holes no longer line up with the pegs in the car.

Is there a way to soften canvas tops?

Heat! Just let it sit in the sun and it will become more pliable

Then keep it on after it cools, for couple days.

I tried to order a new Tonneau cover through Rock Auto a few months back. The order went through and they processed my Visa card and charged it, and was told 4-6 weeks before delivery. 5 weeks later I was contacted and was told they are NO longer available!! Wow they took 5 weeks to figure that out. They finally did credited my Visa account.

My question is is there any other commercial, retail company that offer a replacement Tonneau cover for Datsuns? I've tried custom shops, but they want closed to $1000 for a custom one! I look online but can't fine anyone, just for truck beds.

Nice sunny days lately - I'll put it out today.

Thanks for the advice, Alvin and Toadman!
