So these are photos/review of the grill from Vietnam to replace the original 1600 grill

The first two pictures are of an original 1600 grill, with the 3rd being a detail from the SS ones.

Clearly, they have taken their current 2000 liter surround and added 3 cross bars to it to mimic the 1600.

So is it 'correct', no, IMHO it will gussy up your driver really well and is a suitable alternative to the expense of rechroming a grill. While not correct, i like the slimness of the surround, a la 2000, and similarly the cross bars

Unless they decide to use a different grill surround, then an easy mod would be to angle the ends of the crossbars to more neatly match the surround

Hey Peter, that's really interesting, and thanks for the post.

For some reason, I have grown more and more fond of the 1600 grill... so, I like the original, but agree that the one you posted would be a huge improvement over so many that are out there.

I sold a perfect one for too cheap and really regret it, and am currently trying to replace it.

I'm curious how long it took them to turn that around, and do you know a price yet?

Thanks again, good stuff.
Peter

Just an FYI to everybody, this same Vietnam outfit has a OEM hubcap and "lamp ring" that they are going to have a crack at reproducing. Hopefully "lamp rings" are the headlight buckets and not headlight surrounds which are still available from Nissan. I'm in for the Hubcaps if the quality it there.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but there is some background to these reproduction "lamp rings" (aka "headlight trims") that may be of interest:
