1969 1600

Post by mschel »

Hi, I have been lurking and reading off and on past few years. I finally tracked down a seemingly decent 1600 and will get it home this week.

It is minus engine/transmission so I am planning on a swap and have some questions I will post in the correct area.

I had a 1600 many years ago I had to get rid of because it was in terrible shape and needed a reliable car at the time. Always wanted another one.
My father also had one even longer ago, can't remember if it was a 1600 or 2000.

Anyway, I am more used to working on 60s Mustangs and Falcons and done many engine swaps and installs over the years on those.

I do also have a 260z I rescued from being a lawn/mud ornament to at least running. Unfortunately the clutch is rusted/stuck so can't it drive yet!

Welcome! Sounds like you’re ready for yet another adventure. There are a fair number of folks who have done transplants on our cars so you will have quite a wealth of knowledge & custom parts available. Any idea what engine you are leaning towards?

Hi, thanks for the welcome. I just posted on the swaps forum some ideas for comments. Maybe Modern NIssan, maybe some small ford motor, maybe electric! If I can find a cheap 1600 motor might just get it running with that for now. Plenty of options!

Will see. Excited to get this thing back on road eventually!
