Speedo guts interchangeable?

Post by Gregs672000 »

Greetings all! Anyone have experience with the internals of our speedometers enough to know interchangeably of parts between the various years? Specifically the odometer mechanisms. My 67.5 160mph speedo has eaten the odometer gears (I'll get/post a pic soon). My spare 67.5 120mph was also bad. Question is, can you use an earlier or even a later year gear set or are they not compatible? I've heard that the 66/67's are different from the 67.5 internally, but have no confirmation. Nor do I know if a later speedo internals/gears could be swapped in for the odometer. I rely a lot on my odometer to calculate fuel levels and monitor how the engine is tuned, so I really want mine to work. Any info appreciated!

That's a bummer Greg. I THINK, but certainly am no expert here, that the 68 160 mph speedo has parts which will work. Reach out to Jon Frampton. He is the Michaelangelo of instruments.
