I think dads311 has a good idea to look into Zelle.

I had heard that Zelle has a uniqe setup… and a quick search yields this: “Zelle's setup, which uses direct bank-to-bank transactions, is not subject to the IRS's 1099-K reporting rules.”

I can’t confirm that, but it seems like it might be a good solution.

Plus, my early 20’s kids and their friends all use it, so we would be kind of hip.

I couldn’t be more grateful for what you do, Steve. Thank you as always.

Okay-thanks for pointing out Zelle as an option. I do have Zelle setup but was so frustrated by PayPal/Venmo and several other payment options I had tried I had forgotten about Zelle. It does look like Zelle will work, so will give it a try. I think it uses my phone number or my email address. Not sure just yet, Will give it a try. I set up a seperate account so I can keep the funds dedicted to the web site. I am not adverse to paying taxes as I have done that all my life but taxing me for running a website not making any money is ridiculous. I even pay taxes on my social security which bothers the crap out of me. Thanks.

BEWARE OF ZELLE!
I just had a bad experience in which a friend sent me a thousand dollars via Zelle. Without so much as a chance to direct where the money goes, Zelle sent it to a bank account I closed 2 months ago.
Now the 1,000 bucks is in limbo, both banks are pointing fingers at each other and at Zelle. The fine print at Zelle says you are out of luck if an error occurs.
Still fighting for the grand...
I will never use Zelle again.

We all have our own thoughts and opinions, but can we discuss this without the politics? Moving on....

Not being able to use PayPal or Venmo is unfortunate. Hopefully, there's another easy electronic solution.

Worst case scenario and the site gets shut down will the site be able to be archived and posted for the invaluable information available? I might be able to figure something out to host something if the cost is low enough. We would lose the forum community but have posted info still.

23yrRebuild wrote: Thu Apr 06, 2023 10:28 am Steve, I share yours, and everyone's else's sentiment on this issue. Can you give us a ball park idea of your annual expenses to run this site ? Maybe we could figure out a minimum (or more) amount we could all kick-in to cover your costs...I don't have a clue what an annual budget for an operation like yours costs...hundreds probably, or maybe thousands ?
Mike
For sure. I'm more than happy to take my Monthly PayPal donation and write one large annual check!

I'll be PMing you Steve. This site is invaluable!!!
Just be happy, and have fun!
