Hi all
Does anyone know if a stock datsun roll bar will fit in a roadster(68), with Miata na seats?
Thanks
Steve

Not sure there is such a thing as "Stock Datsun Roll Bar". There was a roll bar pictured here known as the factory roll bar and there were many companies making roll bars.
I could be wrong and often am :)
To help clarify the question, is this the roll bar you are asking about?

FYI, that is the factory bar that was available in the US and Canada. Japan had a different bar with the rear legs mounting to the top bar rather than the sides. I'm not sure what Australia got.

Greg and Steve you may both be correct in your terminology:

The roll bar in the photo is indeed the "factory option," and (IIRC) Ross (Sports Imports) has said that all 2000s delivered in Canada were so equipped, so it would have been a "stock" fitment in Steve's car. That said, someone else will have to answer Steve's question regarding Miata seat compatibility.

btw: The roll bar pictured has had the bottom brackets welded to the bar itself, whereas the original came in seven separate pieces to allow for variations in fitment.

Yes I do believe that’s the “factory”. The one with the peak in the middle, also is in sections .
Miata seat fitment?

My Miata seats are from a model year 2000. Be aware that, if you’re tall and, if you push the seats way back, your head could hit the bar and may crack your skull if you are hit from behind. I installed some roll bar padding to minimize the potential injury.

BTW. That first picture of a roll bar looks odd to me. My bar is a factory high windshield bar and is identical to a 2nd bar I own. Could it be a copy?

Thanks Shannon
Good to know. I’m looking for a roll bar so I’ll keep the padding info in mind. I’m 5”10 so might be ok .

Hey Steve,

You can have a look at mine and measure, I have the Datsun Sports bar on the 69 and will be getting it out on the road in the next couple weeks:

Yes but you have to be very careful not to scratch the bar. The roll bar prevents the soft top from being stored completely down so I never put one on my cars if I can avoid it.
