What do you guys/ladies think? Dead
I saw the crazy price for replacement set so wondering if worth to try to save it and just use a seal repair kit.
Experience welcome...

Might need to change the brake shoe aswell because heard that brake fluid could damage those...

Thx
Seb

Hey, Seb.

First thing I would do before ordering parts is to tear down the cylinder & see what it looks like inside. If the bore looks good, order a repair kit. If it’s pitted or the piston is stuck, consider getting repaired. Karp hydraulics, Apple hydraulics & White Post have been known to do good work. It will cost less than buying new & will last longer. Don’t know what their turnaround time is now but it can be lengthy. There are probably places in France that do this kind of work also.

Check the shoes to see if they have brake fluid or differential lube on them. If they are contaminated or badly worn, they will need replacing.

Wouldn’t hurt to check the fronts while you’re at it.

Peace,
Pat

If you need it quickly then just buy a replacement from one of the vendors. A few of them have em for about $225ish. If you have time and a little talent then go Pat's suggestion.
I believe it takes a Raybestos WK1065 kit. Probably a nice honing and that kit would be enough, and you'll feel great about the accomplishment.

Greg’s Raybestos number is the kit for the 3/4” rear cylinder, make sure what size you need, the size is cast into the cylinder.

Pat

Brian at Sin City has 3/4 inch reproduction Wheel Cylinders 2 x for $225, or 2 x 3/4 inch rebuild kits for $100. Maybe he would be willing to sell just one if the other rear cylinder is OK. That Raybestos kit appears to be NLA . If all else fails I have some 13/16 and 3/4" rebuild kits.
