GarageGuy, since we saved your life, we should be on a first name basis. Also, please submit pics of both sides of your motor, and maybe we can save its' performance life. Pat
I'm Mark. 90% sure it's got AC. The pump was not hooked up when we got the car.
Had it purring like a kitten the day it showed up from New Jersey. Next morning, it had a terrible knock. Pulled the motor. Machine shop found a large lock washer stuck to the head in number two cylinder. Got it all fixed. Machined the head flat, and heRE we are.
I reinstalled intake and exhaust manifolds and carbs without wiring up the starter. Had the manifolds off while looking for heatsheild mounts. What a DAMN NIGHTMARE.
I hate working in this turd
Consider putting it on stands and removing the tire to gain access to the starter. If the triangular piece is still there, you can drill out the spot welds, remove it, do the work and then reinstall it with rivnuts.

If it is a high windshield car which I'm sure it is with a smog pump, you do not want to screw with the triangle piece. It is a box structure and has bigger opening then the early cars since it is at a steeper angle.
66 stroker, almost done.
67 basket case, paint coming soon.
