69 roadster

Post by Mochi »

I purchased another roadster today! It's a really cool story behind it. The current owner has had it since 75 and purchased it from a family friend. He kept all of his stuff that he accumulated over the years and still has his note pad of all his maintenance he preformed over the years.. It's in great running condition but will need some refreshing.

Looks like a '70. Seems pretty clean. Those wheels need to be silver though.

Congrats! I assume that's family looking on. If they're not super stoked yet, they will be after a nice drive somewhere, and everyone will be fighting for some seat time!

Agreed, it's a '70, maybe built late '69 for the coming year if the tag says '69.

Anything is possible, don't we all know it with these cars, but usually, late prior year of manufacture shows up as following year, '68 showing up as '69, etc., not the other way around.

Still pretty new to datsun roadsters. What differentiates 69 from 70?

On a '70, the rectangular front and rear side marker lights, and the large indented round rear reflectors.

On a '69, teardrop front and small round side marker lights, and a three-high array of rear lights, with a small round reflector at top.

On a '68, no side marker lights, rear light array same as '69 (and '67).

Sorry it's a 1600. I will get some better photos up soon. I have been so busy with the little baby and work. Will try and get out to the coast for a spin soon.

Looks great, I wouldn't change a thing. Go through the mechanicals, and enjoy it to the fullest!

yeah the plan is to keep it as stock as possible and only replace what is needed to keep it a good driver car. my 66 is going to be my mildly modified restoration project. first on the list though is the seats. I want to try and redo the seats on my own. looks like Dean has a kit with foam and vinyl. reading up on the seats resto, it looks like it needs some work but hopefully it will turn into a fun project.

Even looks like you got the original hardtop with it … Very nice indeed!

Super eagle eye! I am super stoked about that! It came with the trifecta of convertibles. Tonneau, soft top, and hard top.

So the roadster is officially with the 66 roadster project! It's been really cool to go through all the paperwork and receipts that the previous owner kept. He supposedly bought it back in 75 from a family friend that was the original owner. What's been really interesting is he kept a spiral bond notebook of all the maintenance and parts installed since he has owned it. I really just want to drive it and not not change anything other than maintenance it regularly. will try and get some more pics of it actually on a drive. Its been so much fun to drive it around doing errands and such.

I think you said it best in your first post: ie. Refreshing (not restoring)
You may already have the perfect daily driver right there - Minimal cost, Maximum fun!
