Re: Project Sting-Grey - a 1966 Restomod With SR20DE Power!
I have not had much time to work on the Sting-Grey project, but I did install some of the stainless bumpers from Vietnam-- the rear fit perfectly, the front is going to require reworking some bumper mounting brackets to get it to sit correctly.
The no holes for the over riders, and license plate light sure cleans things up a bunch!
More soon,
Michael

This car is quite beautiful and unique with this special paint color. Looks much better than it does on the Jeep! I'm interested to hear what you think of the quality of the Vietnam bumpers. It does look very sanitary without any holes in the bumper. What are you going to do for a license plate light?

A better view on Ted's SR20DET powered roadster-- adds a beautiful detail!

Forget the bumper , talk to me about the U shaped hoop piece was it chromed or polished ?

We will be using LED license plate light bolts, like this:What are you going to do for a license plate light?
I'll get an image of that when I finish the install.

I hope the eventual buyer of this car is in Oregon, too, so they can keep the "311" license plates.

Re: Project Sting-Grey - a 1966 Restomod With SR20DE Power!
July Update
Its been a long time since I have updated this thread-- lots of work being done on this project (and many others that come in and out of the shop), so let's see what I've been up to on this project!
There were no end of little projects that needed to be completed, and they all needed to be done in a specific order so I can get the car running.
The intake tube needed to be completed-- this is a simple, mandrel bent aluminum tube welded to a billet Nissan MAF mount with a simple K&N air filter:
And installed it looks like this:
With the MAF permanently mounted, I could then build the intake tubing from the MAF to the throttle body-- tight turns here, but it came out pretty clean:
Before all of that could be permanently installed, a lower radiator neck was built and a Nismo thermostat used:
That allowed the upper and lower radiator hoses to be sorted out and the radiator finally filled with coolant:
Four new genuine Nissan injectors were installed into the fuel rail:
And the fuel rail installed into the plenum:
Then the EFI harness could finally be completed, installed and the upper intake plenum installed for the final time.
And 98% complete-- just need to build the throttle cable now.
And finally it was time to turn the key and hear it run:

The engine purrs very nicely, and now I have to work on the next million little details to make this thing drive-able-- but this was a great step! And yet again, a huge thank you to Eric Straw for his assistance on several of these items!

Some other work as well---
Windshield installed with new glass!
Dash is in, lots of cleanup to do-- still waiting on seats and I need to finish the RX7 rear axle-- but we'll be driving it soon!

Amazing! Really Michael, truly amazing!
Mine is almost entirely stock. So, this is what the other side of the coin looks like? Really questioning my commitment to stock now …
