A couple weeks ago, Ted posted that there is a company in Vietnam reproducing the 1500-2000 grill surrounds in stainless. See topic here:

I took a chance and contacted the company via email to ask if I could purchase only the grill surround. They answered immediately that yes, they would sell just the grill for $180 plus $80 for shipping. I paid via PayPal and they started to work making the grill surround. I ordered it on 24 March and received it via FedEx today, 16 April. I must say, it is impressive. No ripples, No waves, expertly polished and perfectly sized when compared to my original grill. All of the caged nuts allow for alignment. I paired it with a stainless grill back from JT at DRP for $169 plus $30 ship. I spent a total of $459 for a great looking grill. The surround looks good and if you confirm it in person, that is great.
So hard to judge "chrome" unless you have it in hand.
Looks very good mounted.
Just need to add the screen behind the back plate.
Dynaguy discovered that the lath screen at Home Depot is very close.
8' piece for about $15!!. Enough for 8 grills.

Why are people putting 1500 grilles on their non-1500 roadsters?!
I blame Ted. He put three 1500 grilles on his three NON-1500 roadsters and now everyone wants one.

That "Alvin" guy was the 1500 grill swap pioneer.
As chroming and straightening becomes even more expensive and regulation prohibitive,
these reproduction surrounds are a great "new" part.

That is because many of us think the 1500 grill is THE best looking of the roadster grills.

Hmm, I already have the stainless back....

So we have Harrington and now Bumper. Different companies?

Lath screen, eh? I thought there was something else that needed to go behind the grill. Anyone have a close up pic of this? I'd like to know exactly what I'm looking for at the Depot. Thanks for the tip, Ted.

Glad to know that Amy is still working with the firm in that capacity. She was the person I first contacted about the stainless repro headlight trims in Feb 2019. After receiving my '69 trims for patterns her team worked on repros but the products did not pass their quality standards for full production. She regularly corresponded with me until Nov 2019 regarding these, but my attempts to reach her since that time (the latest in May 2020) went unanswered.

So are they a part of Harrington? I can't imagine another company completely engineering all the same stuff. Their offerings are extensive.

I also received mine the same day too!

Images of the repro grill surround against my original 2000 grill and 1500 grill (2nd two pics).
Width and Curvature is near dead on.
Height is a bit off...see picture (my son is the hand model here).
And at the corners it's a bit thicker. See the 1/2" vs. 3/4" at the 45 degree angle(1st two pics).

Update. I received the rhombic mesh material that I purchased for the grill back and installed it. The grill is now finished and I am very happy with the fit and finish of all of the products involved. Here are a couple pics of the finished grill for anyone considering a purchase. Seems like one of the vendors would want to do that and bundle with their other products. With Dean's repro center, and JT's back, all you need is the stainless centers and I think you're pretty much there. But I'd be down for one or two in a Gp buy.
