This one was confusing to say the least.....
A few guesses:
Expecting a hurricane and wanted to prevent having to clean up broken glass
Storing stuff on the car and wanting to prevent having to clean up broken glass
Transporting the vehicle and wanting to prevent having to clean up broken glass
Planning to remove (or maybe install) the windshield and did not want to have to deal with broken glass
