Hello Roadster Warriers.

I am preparing to move south to warmer weather. My 1972 Spitfire was sold a few weeks ago via Facebook Marketplace within 24 hours of posting. There was a waiting line of interested buyers. Not sure if I was asking too little but I thought it was fair considering the car was not started for 6+ years.

Next is my 1966 1600 #00058...engine #607. Matching numbers. I think I have a good idea where the price should be and then I start questioning myself. Most likely because I couldn't afford to buy it. LOL!

Appreciate any and all SWAG suggestions.

This is what I do know. I purchased the car in 2004. It was sitting in a barn 2 hours north east in Pennsylvania. The owner had it for a few years and it needed a starter. The body was 'restored' by a previous owner. I have been told the original color was robin egg blue. There is no documentation. I had the original/current engine rebuilt in 2006, new starter and clutch. Other misc. parts through the years. There is approx 2K miles on the rebuild. I have a spare engine. This is a '20 footer', maybe 30 footer. It only leaves my garage on warm sunny days. Basically May - October, a couple times a month. Oh, lordie! I hate the wheels on it. Why did someone put those on this car? The soft top that is on it now was new in a box with the car in the barn. Installed by auto upholsterer who also patched a few holes where mice chewed into it. The interior is original. I keep seat covers on it because the driver's seat is ripped on the seat bottom. Whoever worked on the body, put the interior back as is. It needs the replacement dash cover.

Does the low serial number and matching numbers add any value?

I don’t think the low numbers add any value. As described, I’d say it’s in the $10-$12k range, in the Spring. Interior kits are cheap, so that wouldn’t hurt the value as much as you’d think. Is the dash still painted yellow?

Ok, here goes my shot. It looks like a pretty decent driver from what we can see. The chrome one the tail lights as well as the bumpers looks tired. The paint looks pretty good except for some small chips, but nice and shiny. Can’t see the interior and that can greatly effect value. You state that the drivers seat is ripped and the dash needs a cover, so I am assuming that the rest of the interior is worn as well. I agree with you on the wheels, but many others like them, it’s an individual thing so I would say they are neither a positive nor a negative. If it starts, drives, and stops good then I would guess it’s in the $6,000 to $8,000 range. Awful hard to gauge on so little info. As far as matching numbers and low vin, they seem to be insignificant in the Datsun Roadster world. GLWS.

Yes, the dash is still painted yellow, matches the car. I like it. The interior carpet is black and it was replaced. It still looks new. All the gauges and radio are original.

The bumpers aren't tired. They were painted silver/gray! It was on my wishlist to have them chromed again.

Personally I would take 100+ pictures of the everything (good, bad, and ugly). Then the most thorough and honest description and submit it to BAT. Assuming they accept your listing, it will take 2-3 weeks before it's listed and another week after that you will find out what a fair price is. My gut says in the 7-8 range but again it's difficult without a lot more pics. I don't think matching numbers or low Vin add to the value either in the Datsun world.

I'd think $5000-$7000 would be attainable if it runs, drives and stops well.
