Roadster racing at Watkins Glen and VIR

Post by Mike Unger »

It's been awhile since I've posted here. I usually put updates on Facebook but I know some here don't do the FB thing. I built a new engine for the 1967 2000 race car this fall and took it to the Glen on September 5-8 and VIR last weekend to race with SVRA. It is hard to believe but it's been almost 5 years since I raced the roadster. We made the Group 3 podium both days at both events so the old roadster is still hanging in there. I was the only roadster racing at the Glen but we had 3 Datsun 2000s racing at VIR last weekend which was pretty cool. Tom Phelan, Charles Kates, Jr. and myself were all racing in Group 3. Thanks to Ellen for helping with so much as always and to Ron Freudenheim for photos at the Glen. I will try to post some photos and a link to some in car video from the Sunday race at VIR:

Wow, congratulations Mike! Great to see another Roadster out there doing its thing. I would love to see more pics of the car, engine bay etc. Just watched the video... engine sounds great and pulls strong. Tell us avout your build (unless its super secret  ). Sunny side up!

Great video. VIR is home track for me. Started going there when the Oak tree was a sapling. Now it is gone.
Hope to see you guys this summer sometime if it all comes back.
