U20 2000 Performance Solex Header Special Run 7 Left
Ken Kawabata's, Rebello built 2000, makes 214 BHP at the flywheel with 180 ft lbs of torque using our limited and special run header specifically built for Dave & Ken. Now we know it wasn't all header, but having the best and only 1 5/8" diameter tubes available here in the US couldn't hurt!

Re: U20 2000 Performance Solex Header Special Run 18 Left
I have this header on my Solex car and the quality of the build is excellent (not a surprise from Dean). It's nice that I can buy an affordable 1-5/8" header.

Glad you are satisfied. Just received documentation from another SVRA racer who used our Manley over-sized valve set with this header and his dyno numbers went up significantly. I've added his comments to the listing for review.

These are not the best or the only 1 5/8" header available. Big claims.

Perhaps these are the only ones in 1 5/8" that are readily available in the us market. The pipes from down under are cool, but are they worth the total cost, time and aggravation unless you are racing and can't find the BRE style here? Each owner will have to make that decision.

The Aus headers save time and have no aggravation as the pipes are designed such that all manifold nuts are easily accessible with a 12mm socket even with carbs on.
If you consider the cost vs HP gained (Over the $449 headers which were the comparison header): pretty cheap ponies. Thing is if you haven't tried the long pipes you have no idea how much a difference they make.
Enjoy

Re: U20 2000 Performance Solex Header Special Run 18 Left
Micheal,
What I think what Sid is referring to when talking about time, cost and aggravation has nothing to do with the product itself but rather the process of getting them into the states.
The cost of the header itself is only the beginning these are custom made so there will be a wait time and then you have to then deal with shipping from another continent which takes time and is expensive, once it arrives you will need to pay taxes and duties which can increase the price tremendously. (Especially with the new import taxes on steel )
I get it that they are transformative as you say and some owners like Greg will want them but some folks will compare that total cost and wait time and say I can get Dean’s in a few days and not deal with all of that while still getting a pretty good header

How would the Australian ones you guys have been talking about fit around the steering column on a left hand drive car? Does the first frame rail need to be modified to fit these Aus headers? What is the gain in horse power over these US ones?

Seems they will be fine with steering column. The headers fit within chassis rails and dont protrude over the rail.
Gain in HP: 20% gain at around 3000rpm tapering to 8% increase at 6500rpm. Done on engine dyno.
Aus cars are gradually moving over to this design.

Re: U20 2000 Performance Solex Header Special Run 9 Left
All this discussion has brought a lot of attention to these headers even though there is another one overseas. We are now down to 9 left in stock, I have contacted the manufacturer for another run since these were done almost 3 years ago. They said the price will change based on new costs for material and labor. Don't know if this has any anything to do with new Tariffs/taxes. I'll have to pay what they ask. The quote comes back to me on Tuesday the 4th and the replacement cost will actively go up. Sorry I have to be able to replace the current merchandise at the new cost level.
Thanks for all the buzz!

Michael sounds great. Please attach the dyno sheet so we can all see what the dyno had for hp at the given rpms.mtresillian wrote: ↑Sun Jun 02, 2019 4:50 amKevinkevinspocketrocket wrote: ↑Sat May 25, 2019 11:52 am How would the Australian ones you guys have been talking about fit around the steering column on a left hand drive car? Note the 3500 and 4000 figures are identical. The engine stand on the dyno is hard mounted causing fuel percolation at these points. As you can see, long pipes help everywhere.
Datsun U20, Lou Mondello Engine, 152mm Rods, Compression 10.4:1,.Mikuni 44's, Road/Club weekend racer, B cam, 67 1/2 Air box, 2 paper air cleaner elements. Mixtures .84-.90L
Heenan & Froude water brake Engine Dyno. All figures corrected for humidity and barometric pressure
RPM BHP(1) BHP(2) BHP(3)
3000 63 63 77
3500 91 91 91
4000 111 111 111

5000 147 147 150
5500 155 159 163
6000 166 169 175
6500 170 175 180
7000 171 177 180
(1) As engine came in as described up top 37 chokes
(2) Change to 40 mm chokes, rest remained the same
(3) Long 32 inch 1 5/8 equal length extractors with 40mm chokes.
Interesting to note that at 3000 rpm the engine was making 133ftlbs with long pipes and did not loose out to the short pipes anywhere. Max torque was 158ft/lbs at 5000 rpm.
Sorry for the slow reply, been pretty busy.
