Mikuni's on a 1600 ?

I have 1967.5 with 1600 Engine set up pretty much stock. I really like the mikuni set ups on the u20 motors. But not lookin to heavily modify the car. Question is this- can I install a set of Mikuni's on a 1600 ? and what size would be best. Is this a waste of time and or money ?

My two cents-stay with the SUs. Mikuni's are fine for a modified engine such as a stroker but the stock SUs for a 1600 will give you plenty of peformance when tuned properly. The Mikuni's are pretty cool looking and sound pretty mean with your foot in the gas but the stock SUs can sound pretty sweet as well. That is an opinion from a guy who likes the SUs.

You can run a set of 40s with a R16, Mike Young runs a set on his stroker. It will give you a little more power. The intake is rumored to be rare. I don't know. I have heard that Pierce Manifolds has an intake that will work. Any roadster with a set of Mikunis is cool.

I used to have one of the Pierce Manifolds units. It would benefit from a little hand porting (not to open it up, but to just smooth it out) as it is sand cast. The machine work looks fine. It bolted up fine as well. It comes with linkage parts that will need a little thought (no provision for a cable stand, but there have been some creative resolutions to that.)
I think that with a stock motor, some 40's with fairly small chokes would work fine. That is what I have - I plan to solex a 1500 some day....
