RB's again 16x7

I've reviewed several posts and I know that each car is slightly different but I wanted to get some outside opinions. I think this will fit.

I have a 1970 1600 with stock springs, would like to put Comp springs on in the future

I might be able to purchase a pair of lightly used RB 16x7 with + 22mm offset vey cheaply. If I wrap that with 215/40r16 will I end up with any issues at either the front or rear

Thanks

I would not go that wide in rear, unless you only plan straight-line on smooth roads. No driveways, turns, etc.. I am well aware I am harder on my car then most, but I have polished both sidewalls on a LOT of 205 tires..

So a 195/45 should fit fine. I'm measuring about a 7mm spacer. Does that sound right?

just curious why do you want 215s? you do realize that wider does not necessarily equate to better especially on a low powered lightweight car .
You should also note that a 205 tire on a 7" wide wheel will have about the same section width (widest part of the tire) as a 215 on the same wheel.

based on everything I have read so far I think a 195 or 205 with a 5mm spacer would be a better fit

Just a few pictures to give you an idea of the fitment. The 195/45/16 tire/wheel looks like this, ie lots of room around it:

try 195/50/16 with the right offset:

A nice compromise is 205/45/16:
