I guess a better inquiry would be who builds high performance U20s?

I found several dozen engine main bearings that are marked "competition" and have part numbers I cannot verify. These numbers a similar to the bearing numbers in the manual but are off, for example, by one digit (five instead of four). I don't have the list at work but can post examples when I get home.

I build U20 race engines but I'm not familiar with competition U20 bearings like you describe but Nissan Comp has sold competition bearings for the L-Series. The only difference between stock factory bearings and these being that the shells are sorted by thickness so you can adjust the bearing shells to get exact bearing clearances in a racing engine. My thought is these may be something similar. You can check a comp catalog for the L-series bearings and see what I'm describing and see if it makes sense with the numbers you're seeing.

Thanks for the input Mike.

I am looking a my copy of the NISMO catalog and am now more confused (which isn't all that difficult)

For example: 12231-25510. I find 12231 listed as part of an S30 part number. But the 25510...isn't that a U20 partial?

Maybe this thread needs to be in the "held identify parts" area?
