If you are building a stroked/big bore monster U20 and planning to make even more power, I also have 750kg pressure plates!

Wonder what the aluminum comp flywheel weighs?
Dare I ask ... well guess I did. Nice thing with this one
is the mass at the outer edge of the radius is lower ... F=ma?

Re: Light Steel Racing Flywheel - billet production
The AL plates range from just under 10 to a little over 11.
The lightest versions used a spray bonded friction surface which would only last about one race season depending.
(No good for street). Better versions use a bolt on steel friction surface.
Also beware of the early comp FW's that only had a pressed on ring gear. (Those tend to fall off if you turn the starter after the AL has cooled, but before the ring gear is cool due to the very different expansion/cooling rates). Typically occurs after you shut it off after a hard run then come back and start it- that will ruin your day.
(The AL FW's I make have a pinned ring gear to prevent that). J

Re: Light Steel Racing Flywheel - billet production
Had an aluminum flywheel in the stroked engine since day one.
26 K miles or so.
No problems with it racing it or street driving (well I exploded a clutch once ).
Based on your comments I might need to take a look at it ring gear wise (when and if I pull the engine).
Thanks
