So long long ago one of the "rivet caps" fell off of my top (see red circle).
Still works fine but I need to be sure the male end is in the hole as it falls out at times.

Wonder if anyone has repaired the end of one of these and has any comments?

I have a frame that was welded at a break on a pivot point. I've had another that had a bolt to replace a broken pivot pin.

Perhaps a machine shop may be able to press a new rivet?

If you can find someone with a lathe it is easy to make a new pivot rivet with the correct length and peen it on the end to retain it. Don't forget the thin nylon washer that goes between the flat parts. Stainless steel is good so you don't need to plate it.

I have made one or two. Sometimes the frame is broken where the pivot hole is and needs to be welded and a new pivot rivet made.
