Re: SP310 Clock Conversion
Nicely done....... you can polish the crap out the of the old lens but they usually have check marks so that new lens makes all the difference. There is also a Quartz unit you can use as the donor which has the stem in the front and runs on 12 VDC but it is originally designed for aircraft so it's a bit pricey. (Around $100.00) Made by Mitchell Aircraft Products P/N D1-312-5036. I used one as a donor in my first Roadster back in 98 and it's still going strong.

Re: SP310 Clock Conversion
I was thinking of something very similar for the clock in my ''68. Where did you source the clock works?

Re: SP310 Clock Conversion
I tried two different movements.
The first one was what is called a short shaft and it was next to impossible to mount the OEM hands to the relevant shafts at the correct distance
So, I went searching and came up with this: -
from a company in the US of A: -
http://stores.ebay.com.au/Ronell-Clock- ... d=11360857
Still required some creative design to get the shafts at the correct distance from the face, done with plastic spacers.
Once done, looked like a bought one
The HOUR hand was glued to a short length of brass tubing which slid over the hour shaft snugly. The plastic shaft is the hour shaft.
The MINUTE hand was glued to the threaded nut which comes with the clock movement: The brass shaft is the minute shaft.
Took a while to get it all looking right but the next one should be a lot easier

There are several sellers of similar movements but this was the cheapest even with shipping costs added.NEW Round Clock Movement for Miniature Clocks with Extra Long Shaft
This is a brand new miniature round clock movement with an extra long shaft for thicker clock dials. The compact size is great for carriage, miniature desk clocks and special craft projects! It is very high quality and is made in Germany. The case size is 2" Diameter x 5/8" Deep. The shaft length is 3/16", overall 5/8". The movement has a rear hand set knob. Requires 1 'N' battery, not included.

Re: SP310 Clock Conversion
Easy!
The clock, for some reason, has a 1/8th turn system.
3 tabs engage the instrument case and require a twist to engage/disengage.

Brilliant Nissanman, I hope if I follow your method north of the equator with negative ground my clock does not run backwards

Re: SP310 Clock Conversion
Well, we are getting a severe Autumn/Fall atm and I wish I was somewhere warmer, i.e. north of the equator.
About this time last year, we were in Vancouver and I met up with a host of Roadster owners at Ross's business for one of his magnificent BBQs.
Weather was PERFECT

Re: SP310 Clock Conversion
Nissanman,
Weather in AZ nice today if you like 90's.
I have a couple of questions for you on your brilliant clock rebuild design (I received my quartz insert yest).
1.) Do the hands (hr and min) come of easily from the old clock?
2.) Where did you find the spacers for the hands to get the right height?
I plan on reusing my old plastic cover so I can say I have original plastic
