Re: Going KA-T
I hear ya my friend. Glad you came through well. My daughter who lives in Germany got the one shot J&J while visiting here this June. She is just getting over her covid experience after delta hit and she got exposed, and like you she too was grateful for the vaccine. She had a rough couple of days but is recovering. A close family friend (unvaxed) spent three weeks in the ICU here, recovering now in a skilled nursing facility but it was close.

Re: Going KA-T
Yeah sorry about that. Lots on the mind lately….I guess like most.
So as for the the “little beastie†(in a Scottish accent). I’ve started working on the electrical as we are in a “temporary†house and don’t really want to pull of the body and such. I started by finishing my wiring schematic, which still needs some corrections. I then striped the wires and put labels on the ends. Found that I have two #56 wires sooooo….oops? Meah! Fix it later? Then got to the easy part and ran all the wires to there respective locations.
I also opened a small can of worms by rebuilding one of my dash switches; which meant that I had to rebuild them all…even my spares. Now they all work!
I started planning out my relay box which will lead into the hard and most tedious part of the electrical system…crimping and the impending looming of the loom!
I also started on the side marker conversion. I took two of my side markers that have an issue or are broken in some way and did a test run.

I found that the rear were super easy. I tapped out the original light socket and tapped in a new one that can accommodate the new double filament built (even though it’s all led), but the bulbs will be different leds than are in for the test. I’m using Sylvania vevo led bulbs for the turn and brake lights on the rear but for the sides I’m going to have to find something else that will fit better in the small housings.
That’s all for now. Thanks!

Re: Going KA-T
Did more electrical this week and last week. Got sick of the tedium of the work and decided, just for the hell of it, to update the original 67 tach I have laying around with a speedhut tach. Not hard to do…probably should have taken some pictures, but as for the face and reprint/screening, well that’s a puzzle I have yet to piece together. Maybe John Frampton will give me a hint on how to do it. Hint hint.

Things are coming along, step by step eh? It's a heck of a lot of work, but the rewards at the end (and along the way too!) are worth it!

Re: Going KA-T
Yep Slowly but surely it is coming along. Now that it’s getting cooler I’m going to be in the shop more. Especially on Sunday when I get to see the Texans get their butts handed to them.
I took some photos of the gauge I redid. Turned out well but I think I’m going to go back in and change the color of the needle; which is now red and faint. I tried to get the face to have hot spots of light like the original gauge had. All the lights are led and held in place with an inconceivable amount of hot glue. The gauge is a speed hit tach that has all the bells and whistles. I rigged up a programming button on the back to do the programming.
I kinda like the petunia of the gauge and am toying with the idea of having petuniaed gauges. New clean dash with old gauges. I don’t know.
Here’s a clip of it going into program mode.

I’m gonna open it back up, when I do I’ll add what I did to do the conversion.
Cheers

That's just a flesh wound...
