Enkei Compe

Post by krismon »

My Enkei Compe's arrived today at my doorstep.. they are 15x7 +25. Any educated guesses on spacer sizes that I would need?

Tires are Hankook Ventus V2 Concept - 195/50R15

They are gunmetal gray, got me some black lugnuts. Got the rubber mounted and all balanced today.

I'm guessing I need some new studs. Oreilly nearby has Dorman 610-259 (which look to be the right 1/2" longer part from another thread). How the eff do you get those things off?

Also spent the day calling around for 10mm spacers, could not find any locally. Any recommendations online?

10mm is rough, anything close should be fine! Pep Boys, etc all cary generic spacers

ps, yeah 15x7 is pushing it on our cars. I think you'll be fine though. Excited to see pics! I wanted to try these too

Seems the generic spacers have a center bore too small for our cars. I did just get the back wheels on. 8.5 turns on the lug nuts, plus some more with the torque wrench. Will get some pictures when I get the car out of the cave it's stuck in.

That's good news! Up front if the the spokes are having trouble clearing calipers get the FutoFab spacers they are ~3mm should be enough.

It's the center bore. I just measured the hub center, 77mm (calipers said 76.7mm). Futofab are probably the only ones that have spacers with a hub bore that big. I'll call tomorrow. I don't think the calipers will be a problem.

What's the call on stacking these spacers? maybe stack a pair to 1/4" on the front?

Pictures!!

I got a 1/8" spacer today, specs said 3" inner diameter, got the wheel mounted to 5 full turns to 90 ft/lb. Is that enough to drive on? will an extra 1/2" lug bolt make it too tall?

Center caps, of course don't fit.

Nice! For our education, did the wheels clear the front brakes? No spacer needed?

Well, I'm SOOO glad you asked! Because I was going to reply.. Yeah! no problem! Your question led me outside to take a second look.. wheel spinning.. hmm what's that rubbing sound? The balancing sticker weights on the wheel were rubbing on the brake line! That would have been B - A - D news after half a mile of driving. I just had to bend it down a little with my hand and it's clear 1/2" inch now. I think if I had more spacer, it wouldn't be an issue.

Otherwise, wheel spins fine mounted with 3mm spacer (I said 1/8 before, so small it doesn't matter) to clear the center bore. Without the spacer, with a turned down hub or opened up center bore on the wheel, it would have fit and cleared the brakes. Will test lock to lock steering rub and get some close-ups tomorrow.

BTW, $7 (ea.) spacer is:

excellent! weird that the brake line rubbed on a 15" wheel!
So the spokes themselves don't touch the caliper?
ps how is fitment in back?

spokes don't touch the caliper, lots of room.
Fits nice in back, doesn't look like it will rub on anything, but will report after I drive it.

Could someone else chime in on the statement " 5 full turns to 90 ft lbs?"
I thought we were going for 9 turns? Are lugs 7/16-20? 20 being 20 threads per inch?
5 turns would be 1/4 inch of gripp. Not enough for me!
