Post by GoKart2013 »

Anyone got a 68 Door Lock Clip. Cat seem to find mine. The clip that keeps the door lock in place.

Probably the same as any other Datsun of the same vintage: 510, 240Z etc.

Let me know when you find them. I need one too for a 68.

I did a workaround where I placed the rod for the clip in place, but I reversed it so the lock-rod was pointing inwards toward the hole. Then I used something elastic-ish to pull it inwards. I think it was actually a spring. I latched the other side of the spring to something else in there. My TrueValue store has tones of springs. I used on with large hooks like ends built into it. Similar to what you find under the seats.

OK Ross. I will take two. These are the plastic clips that clip on the door lock rod right? I have some other clips that go on the door linkage that are of a different size. I need the door lock rod clip.
OK. Where do you want me to send the big $10?
Thanks a million for offering them. BTW. :)

I assume you mean the clip that secures the tumbler into the door?

I have the door lock clips that secure tumbler to the door, not the plastic ones. I will check to see if any plastic ones are still usable but they get brittle with age and break as you have found out. Let me check the lock collection I have to see if any are usable.

Yes, an accurate description of the part needed would be key. Wouldn't it ?

LOL. In my head I knew what I wanted. LOL. Never even thought of the tumbler clip.
I can't speak for GoKart2013. What I am looking for is the gizmo that would connect the rod (that has the door lock knob on top and connects to the door handle). Where that rod connects to the handle is a plastic gizmo. That is the gizmo I need. I have some similar ones that connect thinner rods in the door linkage but not that one.
Let me know if that is still not clear. There is no late model door photos on http://www.carpartsmanual.com/datsun311/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Even though the site says there is, it points to the early model doors with the press button opener.

I think they may be available from Nissan still. Check carpartsmanual for the part number and then check the nissan parts wholesalers, like group1 or nissanpartsdeal, or taskar, etc..
