Building a book shelf

Post by K1200 GT »

I have over 100 car and motorcycle books....internet wasn't always around ya know. I was looking for a nice wood bookcase. But didnt like the prices at all for true wood bookshelves. So Home Depot here I come again. Good thing I get that 10% veteran discount. So I bought some nice pine wood and some stain, glue and screws left over from last project. So about $60 later.

Nicely done, and WAY nicer than paying the same or more for pressboard crap. Books are important.

I love a good bookshelf in the garage - though I am guilty of repurposing a press board piece of crap - it was free!
I'd like to have something nice, and self-made like this. You ought to see my work benches I built for the shop.
On second thought, no one should see those.........

Good solid wood furniture can last many generations. Good on you for not just going out and buying some crap.

My woodworking bench is still at my parents house, 4x6 mortised frame and commercial solid core door for a top. I don't think it can leave without a chainsaw.

I did these dovetails with one. The only downside is that you are limited to under 12 inch boards.
