It's more about stopping further patina from occurring

There was a small car show nearby & we ended up with second place in the classic category! Next is having the top & boot installed. It’s been off the road for 23 years & a two year rebuild.
Pat - what's going on with the black fender lips?
Are those added to the existing flares or is it just a paint line? Looks good!

Installed my newly reupholstered Miata seats. After a couple of extended trips of around 2000 miles, I opted for a comfort upgrade. Had them upholstered to match my custom interior. I'll keep the originals, easy swap out for a change of pace. These should make the 7–8-hour drive to Shedd in August more comfortable. Pat

Those look fantastic. I love my Miata seats, but I am probably gonna go back to Original. Cloth is definitely the way to go, though.

Took Consuelo for a test run to the local Ace hardware store. Still need to get the carbs in order.
First question I got from the employee, "Is that an MG"?

Datsun Roadster Repair Training Session . DROPS Garage. Saturday. 7-29-23.
The DROPS Garage had a rare open day for training.
David Niess needed to replace leaking rear axle seals and install rebuilt rear axles.
I provided guidance and very little real work and David got greasy.
No major problems and he did the second (right) side pretty much himself. He did good. No roadsters or workers were harmed.
Evidence on the floor after the work showed that even after spending many 10s of thousands of $, your roadster can have a rear main oil leak like all the rest of our roadsters.

Nice that you folks do this. We used to do that when I lived in the North Bay. We had a core group of a dozen. Miss those fun runs and the working on each other's cars.

Roadster fixit day at Casa Vorpal... got the brakes bled and took 67.5 for a short run in the afternoon... everything is working except the stupid fuel and temp gauges.. changed the voltage regulator, triple checked wiring and grounds and nope, they still display reversed! Gas=temp and temp=gas... so weird.

Steve brought over his 68 for some brake bleeding and a failed attempt to install a tach cable, four car guys couldn't get it threaded onto the back of the tach.

Blue car just sat for the day.

Met fellow owner Ron Eastman last weekend at a cars coffee and he gave me a great idea for a hard tonneau. Soft top never really goes up in SoCal if I can help it and now I can mount some 6x9 speakers under the forward edge that’s supported by a 1x4 piece of wood. It really hides the rear deck. Thanks Ron!

Looks and works Great! I too no longer have a soft top, but had a bikini top made that uses the old front bow to attach to the windshieldoctors and stores in the back shelf... lots more room!
