I keep clicking on both "View unread posts" and "View new posts".

I'm probably dense, but what's the distinction between the two?

thanks in advance --

I get a huge difference in the number of posts....(New, must be like ones I have not opened at least once and Unread are ones that have posts I have not read.)

I only use "View Active Posts" and sometimes "View Your Posts" if I am looking for a thread to see if anyone has answered my question.

Unread posts are ones you haven't read. New posts are new to the forum. If you haven't been on in a week it will show posts from the last week you haven't read and new post will be the most current.

^ I think I get that. But wouldn't "new posts" also be posts I haven't read, so they would be included in "unread posts" as well?

So one is a subset of the other? I think I need more sleep or something.

New posts are posts since your last visit.
Unread are all unread.

So if it was new and you didn't read it, then next visit it will NOT be on new posts, but will be unread. Unless it's Tuesday, but we're working on that.
