Amp gauge

Post by Revbang »

With the car running my amp gauge moves from slightly discharging (about an 1/8 inch) to slightly charging (about 1/4 inch) every two to ten seconds. Is this normal function of the electrical system or is this indicating a problem. Thanks for helping a Roadster rookie. Mark

RE:Amp Gauge

Hey Mark,

Is that with a load or no load? It is going to move around a bit. It sounds like the volatage regulator is doing its thing. Charging a bit then kicking out-charging a bit and then kicking out. Sounds pretty normal to me. Did you put a fuse in line when you replaced the amp gauge? Highly recommended to save burning out the amp gauge if something does go wrong. A 30 Amp fuse could save the amp gauge. That's my 2 cents worth.
