67.5 Slowly comes back to life!

Post by notoptoy »

So I was prodded to post some pictures of my multi-year restoration. I have posted lots of pics over the years of various stages of things - brakes, brake lines, transmission rebuild (3X's!), mounts, console etc. but never started a thread for my car as a project - shame on me!
So here are a few of the engine going back in just after the rebuild. The car is running, and I have driven it about 2 miles, before I had to pack up and head out of town. there are a few more small things to do to make it roadworthy - one more brake line, a leak at the coolant tower, some electrical bits to sort - and a license (for the car, not me).

So here are a few perspective shots, this is what I had let the car start to look like back in 2004 or so. The car had sat outside, covered for years. Then it sat outside uncoverd for a while. Then it went to Wisconsin. Then it came back. Now it has a spot in the garage, and is being nursed back to life.

Thanks Mike!
In the "new" pictures at the top, the valve cover you see is just a place holder - I cleaned up and repainted the black valve cover, which looks much better. Once I had it running I set the valves etc. then put the newly painted cover back on and torqued it down. I have more pictures somewhere!

Nice "save"! I like the white on white, clear lense look!

Very nice! I love "build threads" always so much inspriation inside. I know there are a lot of sub forums here already, but maybe a sub forum just for build threads would be cool?

I really hope mines comes up looking 1/2 as nice as yours, I never removed my engine, so your bay is much much cleaner! Really looking forward to the completed pics!

Thanks, believe me, the engine compartment looks better than the exterior of the car! The interior looks pretty good - i will post more pictures, but don;t have any right now!

Looks good Tom, lots of attention to detail. Is that Tar Heel blue?
What color is the exterior red, very nice.
Linda
Sadly-Linda has passed away 2022. She was the 311's den mother and drove the first Rare-Parts ball joint project. RIP.

Thanks Linda!
The blue is actualy GM blue engine paint. I got a steal on it as Advance auto was clearing it out for $3 a can (normally closer to $7). The GM blue is closer to the Nissan Green than the Ford blue - but obviously still not correct. The Red is on Hal's (Velo) 67, and I really like it, but do not know the exact color - Hal, are you out there listening???
