New XXR 513

Recently picked up some XXR 513 off of craigslist. These the are 15x7 +15 offset with Federal 205/50/15. For those thinking about installing these here is some FYI that have been previously stated about these rims:

- inside of the bore hole needs to be grinded down a little so rim sits flush. simple procedure as you just need to take off a couple mm.
- 205's are a pretty snug fit in the back, tires will rub the inner fender if your shocks and springs are old like mine and if you go over bumps. but normal driving is fine.
- center caps will not fit on the front rims. I just ordered some new dust caps to compensate.
- here are the lugs you will need (thanks to 69shell for the advice) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... MEWNX%3AIT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Overall, I really like the look and feel of the rims and tires. big improvement over the wire spokes i had on before.

looks good!
One thing I never liked about these is the stepped lip and small spoke section...they make the wheel look like a 13"
when will these companies make a wheel that fits without having to grind the center bore?

I LOVE the background the car looks perfect sitting there

I like them, thanks for posting the pictures. I also wondered about the 205's, I went with 195's when I bought mine so I guess we know the max size now.

195's would definitely be the better choice, but these wheels came with the tires.

spl310 - don't worry the wires will live on, they will be going on my other roadster.

hopefully i can take it on a longer drive this weekend, and i'll see if i can some better hawaii backdrop pictures.

Why not cut your hubs to 73.6 mm and be done with it?

How did you cut your hubs? I need to do the same to mine.

Hey everyone,

I have been doing some wheel research the last few weeks and I think I have settled on a set of the XXR 513s in 15 x 7. I have a couple of quick questions first before I place my order.
1. Would I be correct in getting a set of 195 50 15 tires?
2. I have a stock hight 68 1600, with the above tires should I be fine clearance wise?
3. The wheels I have found come as 4 x 114.3 mm bolt pattern. That is what I need, right?
4. I saw someone had used a router to open the wheel a bit to get it to fit the hub, any one know the specifics on that router bit. I can't find that post anymore. Otherwise, how were the hubs cut above?
5. I saw the lugs above in the post, is there anything else I need to get of think about?
6. Finally, my roadster is black with red interior, what do you think would look the best? (aluminum with chrome rim, black with chrome rim or gun metal with chrome rim). I prefer the gun metal, but not sure how well that would go with the black (I know this is preference, just thought I would ask). Would anyone happen to have pics of any of these situations?

Thanks is advance for your time and considerations.

Additional question, the eBay link does not give the specifics for the lug size needed. Can someone give me that info as well?
Thanks

There are 3 threads regarding these wheels....I know, because the 3 threads are mine:) In fact, I just bought this same set of wheels and tires, you can see them on the car in the "member's rides" section under "67.5 clone".
yes, the tire size you outlined is correct 195/50 15 I know fit front and rear.
I simply used a radius router bit with the bearing guide on it. I think it's about 3/8 or 1/2" radius cutter,....does the job in seconds and gives a nice smooth radius cut.
There should still be a thread in this wheels/tires sections titled "here you go, xxr....something"....
lugs are 7/16" thread "tuner" lugs. I bought sets of them on e-bay for $18, comes with 20 lugs, socket, and 4 valve stems.

Thanks, I knew I saw a post about them before and I swear I had saved it somewhere. I think I even commented on it as well. Clearly not very good at searching this site. Thanks for verifying this info, I really appreciate it.

I'm not trying to thread-jack here, just wanting to add my own experience from using these wheels on a roadster. I also went with a set of 15x7 +15 offset after having two of my vintage 14" alloys stolen a few weeks ago while my car was on jack stands. Oh well, you make the best of a bad situation, in this case, buying new wheels!

Nice wheel, even with 8 holes:

Factory center bore won't fit the front hub:

After some router action (all four wheels to allow rotation):

On the car with some (believe it or not) 205/55-15 Falcons that I had around:

No rubbing so far, but it's going out for a serious flogging this weekend. Cheers,

Can you guys take closer shots of the wheels on the car? Specifically, a close up of the wheel and fender just so I can get an idea of the clearance on a wheel that size. Thanks!
