Cool beans! My brakes firmed up after using them a bit. I think the seals in the master cylinder needed some "exercise".

I've been really happy with this brake set up. No fade after hard use!

The pads need to get settled in. They're kinda soft until they get cooked a bit.

I've gotten questions about the bearing spacer. I re-edited a previous vid so that you can watch 3min instead of 30. :) I'll see if I can get this up on my site, as well.

Ordered up my kit yesterday and have a couple of questions:

I'm going to be drilling the calipers so I don't have use the brake line manifolds - does anyone have a recommendation for the brake hose I should use?

I need to replace my master cylinder as it's worn out but will be staying single circuit as there's no room for dual. I remember seeing a thread where someone used a different master cylinder (possibly Datsun 411) but don't know whether this was done to get a better bore size (bigger or smaller?) or just for price/ease of availability?

Thanks

Hopefully, shifty will comment on the brake hose he used.

One of the 411 guys was looking at other m/c options because of space. He was leaning toward a newer('90's or newer?) VW m/c. It had a single jar reservoir, but was still dual circuit. Having had the rear wheel cylinders fail on more than one rig, I'd personally never go with a single circuit system. But.....there's still a huge number of vehicles out there running single circuit m/c's. :)

I had custom lines made due to the manifolds. The threaded portion needed to be much shorter than the stock roadster hoses.

I don't recall if the threads on the Volvo calipers are metric or SAE.

Thanks Shifty.

Is anyone running the Volvo calipers with the drilling modification so the manifolds aren't needed? If so what hoses will work?

My roadster has Volvo calipers but I used the roadster rotors. I followed the writeup in the faq except I cross drilled the caliper to eliminate the manifold.
I got the fittings and hoses from Pegasus as suggested in the faq except I used a 90 degree fitting on the caliper so it would clear the upper supsension.
It all works well, good firm pedal and will stand that little car on its nose.

Thanks - just went back and re read the FAQs. Do you have a picture of the fitting on the caliper?

What size bit to use when drilling the calipers? 1/8"? I'm assuming exact size doesn't matter, but...

I think I've seen 3/16" mentioned but I don't think it's critical.

I have a set of long (about 7" drill bits in fraction sizes. I used a 3/16" bit. The extra length allowed me to keep the drill chuck away from the body of the caliper.
Soft cast, drills easily.

I've got one set of cross drilled rotors opened up to fit the 311 hubs.
