I would do it the color you will eventually paint the car. You already have it stripped down, and that way you can do a repaint without stripping the engine bay again. I am also not a big fan of black engine bays....
I remember when no one wanted the 1500s......

Not a fan of black either, but since I would like to do sora blue at some point that might be a little odd. However I'm losing traction on this project and want to have it running again. Pushing it in and out is getting old. With coaching duties my time has been halved.

The cowl needs to be redone as well since some paint peeled off. Paint will not feather out so spot repair is out. I have a new windshield for it and waiting for a new dash pad from Gerado. Probably I will just finish the primer and tow bar it to the body shop to fix inside behind the grill which is bent a bit. Have them put the paint on and keep the neighbors from complaining about the paint smell.

Top coated with anything is better than just primer.

Epoxy primer is NON-porous.

I thought so and I have decided to leave it as such. No sense putting on paint I will later strip. Car stays in the garage anyway.

Well my cleanup has revealed that the driver side inner fender box stiffener is rusted out. Really makes my choices more difficult.

The car is going to the body shop over the holiday break to be repaired. Removed the fender and the door and found the hinge area cracked out and rusty which I suspected with a sagging door. On the positive side the rocker is okay. Stripping all the undercoat off so there will not be any more surprises.

I cannot believe how much rust can come out of the box area on the inner fender. Piles of it. There's more rust then there is sheet metal.

Bummer on all the rust, but great that you are getting it fixed right and back on the road!

Went to the shop and saw the rusty mess. They cut a strip out of the bottom to check what can be salvaged. Should have it back soon.

Laid out the new wiring harness in the other car to finish the fuse box hookup and circuits. Amazingly the map light lit up after putting some power to the old dash that has been sitting for 15 to 18 years.

Got a bunch of stuff back from plating. Not quite Nissan yellow but looks good.

Here's some of the replated stuff and the engine in the carcass car. Includes the new water tube I had made in the late style.

Wow, all that plated stuff is gorgeous!!
I like the wiring upgrade too, all those modern fuses! Beats the three originals in mine!

I got to see the repairs today. Inner fender is almost done and it looks great. They hand formed the sheet metal. On to the pillar now.
