MOPARPRO dropped the eBay price by $50 from when it was first listed early this AM on eBay. Hopefully for those that need one MOPAR will list it on their website for direct purchase. In theory they could drop the price closer to $600 or so and make the same as what they will net on eBay after those money changers take there 13% on the Tank + shipping fee. This is one of their highest $ tanks. Most of what they offer are in the $350-$550 price range.

Update: Mike the owner of MOPARPRO answered a question of mine over on Facebook. Basically, by-passing eBay if and call him direct he can go $650 + shipping.

New to the Forum, I take it these are a good option to replace the tank in a '68 2000?

Yes this is the correct version for your car.

Do you think this is a fair price? $650 is a lot for me to spend on a gas tank that is a first run and unproven. Has anyone ordered this yet? Does anyone plan to?

Nope. $500 total. Pump, pickup tray from a Honda tank, sending unit, etc. But I did all the work except for the sealing. It’s been great so far, 15 years in service and no issues.

Turns out a solid brass Ferrari tank is cheaper than this option.

Seriously though, unless you're going for a proper restoration, there are likely better options. Granted I did it myself, but I built an aluminum tank with pump, fittings, the whole package for ~$385 USD.

Ran across the tank on ebay this morning. Looks nice but let's see here. Tank $650 plus shipping, then another almost $300 for a NOS sending unit unless you find a good used one. If you have a good unit then the tank makes sense compared to having a tank redone, maybe.

I found it to be quite a bit less for a restoration. And as I found you can use a VW sender unit in it for about $30 or so dollars. But still you have an old tank that could have structural flaws hidden in it. Perhaps they would consider the early sender in the next run. Much simpler than the twist in one.

Probably not a good idea but I thought about drilling new holes so the VW sender doesn't point at an angle. The one I have in my tank now shows the level fine even though I shortened the rod just a little too much so it sits slightly higher at empty.

Does anyone know of other modern takes on the roadster tanks? I haven´t seen any company that makes aluminum tanks for instance. I bought an alu tank from Pro Alloy for my Z, but they don´t do roadsters unfortunately.

Tell them you made a aftermarket automotive product , a critical part & want to sell it , see what they say

I'm thinking about buying one. $695 on the website plus shipping seems steep though, it would solve my rusted fuel tank situation. I'll post pics if I do.

Have you asked around Locally? Should be a number of Roadster fans there with some spare parts...
Guess I've been lucky... my car sat for many years and I've never had any worries about my tank.
