Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
Bob,
the only thing about driving your roadster down, is you can't haul back more when you find them like you do. the car is looking good, did you get a clear coat sprayed on it?
will see you this Saturday at Fayetteville for the car show. i might just work out of it while i am over your way Thursday and Friday also. Harvest homecoming car show is on Sunday, if you want to run over and park with mine.
and the invite is open to anyone that can make it to nw Ark for the nice cool weather. highs in the 70s all this week.
Richard, love your baby blue that is looking sweet!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Bob
I like those wheels. What are they? Sounds like a great cruise and it's always nice to see Mom. Seems like there is a growing roadster community in the North Texas, arkansas area. I hope to be running soon.

Drove to the National Oldtimer festival in Zandvoort today.
It was a little bit cold and not much sun.
Went back early just before the rain.

I love that black car Richard!!!! And the top too!!!
Keith (cktrap),
I love wheels too!! Those are Shelby Vipers (ARE Libre clones) that have been polished. I couldn't bring myself to polish the ARE's.
Yes, the roadster numbers are growing some in our area. I was pulled over in Magnolia, AR (not the police) by a guy who wanted to take pictures of my car. He said he has 69 and thought he had the only one in Arkansas.

I've had numerous folks tell me "I had one of those cars years ago" or something similar, but no one I have talked to has seen one in many years.Katybug92 wrote:I love that black car Richard!!!! And the top too!!!

Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
Sunday was a beautiful warm day so I decided to cruise a little further down Mulholland highway on the way out to Malibu. I found myself driving by the famous Rock Store, a popular hangout for bikers. Check out the website for map and photos : http://www.rock-store.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Just past the Rock Store is the equally famous stretch of road known as The Snake, because of its twists and turns. The Snake has bitten a few motorists, and when it has, photographers, Jon or Paul, from http://www.rockstorephotos.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, have likely caught the action:

As I drove by they got a couple of shots of me too:

Linda,
That is too cool! I have drove that road a few times back when I was a kid and my GF lived in Westwood. Thanks for the memories and those photos (good laugh as long as no one got too hurt).

Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
For once, I can reply!!
I've been remodeling the kitchen at my house while simultaneously re-doing an entire house for my daughter (or a flip, depends on her finances when it's done). And just for a bonus, starting a business and doing my old job part time. Short version, I've been ignoring the Datsun and haven't really driven it since Watkins Glen.
I needed to move the 69 on Thursday to get the new counter top in the door, and it had a semi dead battery, pushed it forward and figured I'd start it up or put the charger on it Saturday morning. It was sunny and in the 60's. It started right up, so I backed it up and let it stay running. Suddenly I realized I had a perfectly good convertible just sitting there running. Looking a bit silly in carpenters pants and a leather jacket I disappeared for 45 minutes driving all over the place. Most fun I've had in weeks. Linda and I took it and ran errands to Home Depot, did a weeks grocery shopping, which fit in the trunk and went shopping for tile. Saturday traffic on the infamous Route 22 (The Death Highway to locals)was fun.
I had to do a service call later at 5pm and set up a sound system for a concert, no tools needed, so I took the Datsun. The sun went down right as I got there, I got done around 6 and the temp had dropped to 45-50 degrees. Had a cold ride ahead of me, but figured if I'm going to be cold, may as well go fast and be really cold for a shorter time, so I took the freeway and blew the cobwebs out of the car. It was very refreshing to get out in the air and stop worrying about cabinets, floors, plumbing etc. If next weekend is above 50 degrees, we're going out again.

Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
Bummer here.....
Yesterday I drove one of my Roadsters to where I store over winter. On the way I got a ticket for 68 in a 40. Luckily for me I didn't get caught when I was at 85 in a 55 and, according my buddy behind me, still accelerating away from him.
I held out as long as I could to store the 1600. But since my back surgery I have not been able to replace the fuel tank and clean out those lines so the car still isn't running the best it could.
Hopefully once the temps are back in the 40s or 50s this coming March I will be able to replace the clutch on the 2000 and finally be able to put some serious miles on that Roadster.

I figure 2 more weeks at best before storage, hoping for a warm Thanksgiving.

Re: Where did you DRIVE this weekend? (Roadsters only!)
I got 2 miles on the roadster on Saturday.
One mile to the gas station and one back.
Pulled into the garage, prepped all the fluids, pulled the battery and covered it up for the season.
Unfortunately, I got a new motorcycle a couple of weeks back and the roadster has been ignored until I put it away.
