Re: 69 2000 Derustoration
After I fitted the fenders and doors I took everything else off the body.
And began the fun process of scraping and stripping the bottom of the car. I am not near done with this part.

Looking really good Kman,
Not too long ago I was cleaning the underside of my car. I cant even imagine doing it without a rotisserie and getting coated with everything coming off the car. My hats off to you.

Re: 69 2000 Derustoration
Bought the basecoat.
Working hard to get out most of the dents, etc. so that I need as little filler as possible. Really waiting for a decent day so that I can blast the nooks and crannies that I can't get to otherwise. As soon as I blast I'll be able to cut the body in.

Looking good.
The trunk floor likes to crack at the aft end of the rail doubler. Add a 5" x 5"plate, or do the frame mod.

Re: 69 2000 Derustoration
Thanks for the warning pebbles. I am trying to get a better idea as to where the problem happens. I can't find a good picture of this problem. My guess is that is cracks at #2 along the red line? I would rather not attach the tank to the frame.

About 1" forward of the step. It varies slightly from car to car.
In 1970 a longer plate was added.

I drilled a hole in the rear frame crossmember and put the Japanese bolts in there

Re: 69 2000 Derustoration
Some progress has been made in the last couple of weeks. I got the body and myself ready for cut-in.
1st an all over coat of epoxy.
Then seam sealer on every seam (took about 3 tubes) and a complete undercoat with rock guard.
Then black basecoat underneath. Red in all the right places. and some slightly matted clear.
Then it's filler time. It's not as thick as it looks.
More epoxy.
And. 3 coats of primer and a guide coat.

Re: 69 2000 Derustoration
Getting the rest down to metal. It took a fair amount of bumping and shrinking to get to this point. Some genius basically caved in the door and filled it with bondo. I think it hit a guard rail at some point.
Then after filling and priming, another test fit. Including the headlight bezels and grill.
Then all the cutting in. Plus a little redo on the more visible areas.
