I haven't posted an update in a while because I've been too busy playing American Picker. As you may know, I'm a huge fan of Glutton for Punishment! I stumbled upon a barn find just outside of Nashville of a car I've always lusted after. I had to move quickly, and after a 23-hour journey of fun and escapades, I brought this lovely lady back out into the sunshine for the first time in 40 years. It's a 1970 Triumph GT6+, a fairly complete car, with the typical Fred Flintstone missing floors. So that meant the 1959 MGA up on the shelf had to go. I barely have room for one project car. I finally sold the MGA and now the GT6+ is nestled up high on the shelf for when I finish the Roadster. I have every intention of restoring and keeping both of these cars and then ride off into the sunset in them one day. So now it's back to work on the Roadster, full speed ahead!

Picked up this used "parts" 5-speed transmission from a nice gentleman who used to race Datsun 510's in the '70's and 80's. The L20B mates up with the Roadster 5-speed with the 510 bell housing.

I haven't seen an update in a while... if that GT6+ is taking all of your time, then I will fly over there and pull some Carrie Underwood car smashing on it.

You send Carrie Underwood over and THEN I will give you an update. :smt005

Nothing to report other than I have been busy working away on the Roadster. Lots to do. Lots to do. Lots to do..............LOTS TO LEARN!

I'm thinking the 5-speed I am rebuilding is from a race car. The speedo drive assembly was "sealed off" by a ground-down nickel and some blue RTV, and the shift "bush" is solid metal that is permanently "fixed" in the shift selector linkage.

Good to hear you've been working on the Roadster.

Gotta love the nickel trick, wow.

Looking forward to hearing more about the transmission, good luck!

As if I don't have enough to work on, I decided to build a floor lamp out of a spare gearbox case and main shaft. I'm trying to figure out how to hook up the shift lever to be the ON/OFF switch. I'll have a shifter rod and knob sticking out to "shift" up and down to be the switch. I'll drill a hole in the top of the shaft and tap it for the threaded light fixture with a lampshade on top. Some threaded casters or pads on the bottom to screw into the bell housing. Jeff
