Update:

I think I did my final drive for the remote tuning. Running strong. Of course, when I got back, my driver door latch mechanism decided to stop working. I think a spring broke. It barely opens the door and the handle is pretty floppy. Need to research that...

Spent some time with the DA, polish, and wax today. The paint has some issues here and there but red hides it well. It is a driver...

I also installed the hood. Now I have to see how the temps are with the hood on it.

Sleeper of the century.
What does the dash look like and gauges?

Hey Alvin.
See my post above...
Proxes R1R or
Direzza ZIII?

Stock gauges for now. Currently shopping for options. Looking for: Chrome bezel, black face, white needles. I can generally find 2 of the 3. I saw some Stewart Warners, but the reviews on them were not good.

Let me see if I have a pic of the dash. It is some sort of wood overlay.

Not the best pic. I took this one to help me remember what the current gauges look like.

I don't know that I will keep the wood dash, wheel, and matching shift knob (not pictured).

Let me clarify that. The steering wheel appears to have been painted a woodgrain finish. The dash is actual wood, but the steering wheel does not appear to be. Maybe it is, but I don't think so.

Ah sorryI missed that. Can't go wrong with either tire. I've used both. Seriously comes down price/size and maybe looks :D

On the gauges, you got the stock gauges to work with your K-swap?!!!
If not, and you want aftermarket it's hard to beat Classic Instruments Hot Rod -series gauges. Chrome bezel, black face, white lettering.

The ultimate option (IMHO) is to send your stock gauges to Jon Frampton. He will convert them to electronic signals, restore and customize.

Thanks Alvin.

My gauges are not working. I saw those Classic Instruments gauges but didn't realize that the 4 5/8" gauges fit. And, do you have to open the holes up for the 2 1/8" smaller gauges?

I have been toying with the Jon Frampton idea. Mine are pretty rough. I didn't know he restored them as well as converted them.

Man those gauges are Nice! I hear you on underhood temps. I have a ceramic coated header and have wrapped the upper portion in a Heat Shield products header wrap (not typical wrap) and it's still freakin hot under the hood at times. I have a solex carb heat shield that needs a bit of welding to fix cracks, but I plan on adding that too to help keep temps down near the throttle bodies and their wiring. I seriously don't know what folks with turbos do. I've seen them wrapped or otherwise shielded, but that only goes so far. I can highly recommend Heat Shield products however.

I am probably going to be down for 2+ weeks when I swap the front brakes. I might send my header off for ceramic coating inside and out. I'll check the Heat Shield stuff too.
I ordered one wheel for fitment. It is a custom order since they drill them as ordered. The wheel should be here this week. Now I need to swap the brakes to see if the wheel fits. If it does, then I can order the other 3.

Hi Slackline, I'm not sure how rough your gauges are, but I sent mine to Jon and he did as good a job as I could hope for... before and after pics below.

Thanks. Mine are similar in condition without the cracked glass.

I'm glad to hear that.

It is certainly impressive work... But I would expect that from a guy that works on aircraft gauges.

Happen to know Jon's price difference for a speedo / tac restore from a normal factory cable operation versus GPS speedo, electronic pulse TAC upgrade?
