Datsun1500 was telling me about Maryland's Year of Manufacture rules. IIRC, you can bolt on ANY plate with the right year and you need to keep your state issued "normal" plate in the trunk. Sounds crazy, but good for redlight cameras.

Same for NC. The "classic" plate is registered to the standard plate, so it is linked to Red light cameras
