Curtis,

Is the seat back foam p/n AHH7036? That is what the pbnorthwest website shows to match up with the bottoms you purchased. But your seatback foam is white, the website shows that foam to be black. Maybe the black one is an older run of foam. Also did you opt for the stiffener boards that are offered, or not necessary on Roadster frames?

Thanks

My mistake, I got them here. I didn't notice any stiffener or backboard. Not sure why we would need a backboard since our seats are sheet metal.

I can't see what the difference is on left and right. I thought the one side was tapered but it doesn't look like it to me.

Now I see why MGB needs a "spine" stiffener, yikes

All four of mine are black. But who knows if they were repainted. They don't seem to be since I am only finding one coat of paint. Slides were plated.

  • Seat frames were originaly painted black
  • Sliders were Zinc Plated so I painted mine Eastwood Siver CAD
  • I used a total of 234 inches of webbing for 2 seats (19.5')

Well the car is kind of stalled on finishing. My locks are being redone so have to wait to put on door panels. Rear side panels are just put in place since I forgot to have the soft top brackets replated. Trying to sort out with help from others why the car craps out at 4500 rpm. Took out the points distributor and put in the 123 and it was the same. But at least the 123 had the total proper advance of 34 unlike the points that were about 45. And now I finally have the 123 curved well for lower rpm. New coils and resistors on the way. Unisyn says the carbs are balanced.

Second car is coming back in a few days. It will be sitting for a while so I can make sure the doors and fenders fit correctly before paint. This car is the 67 and came with an aluminum head and the block blue. Asked Ross about black vs. blue blocks and the nearest he and Mike Young can tell is the blocks went blue with aluminum heads.

So here's my dilemma, I really don't like the blue even though it is correct for this car. Probably I will fly in the face of convention and go black. I see here a lighter and darker colors available. The blue on the block was the lighter I think which I dislike even more.

Curtis, I too don’t like the blue and went with black. I’m not shooting for a concours event car, just a period correct nice driver. I don’t regret it and like how it came out. I say do what makes you happy unless your building for shows or profits🙄

The car will be sora blue and the blue engine paint in there will look horrid to me.

I took a few minutes yesterday just to see how much you can shine up a head. Hard to beat nonferrous metal for polishing since gold or platinum plating is out of the question. Need to soda blast it to get at 30-40 years of oxidization on it. First I'll have the shop take a quick look at it before I waste too much time on it.
