Good job. What happened?

It is kind of a long story. Several weeks ago my host provider told me I needed to update the back end database from MySQL4 to 5. I did that early last week and things worked fine up until around Thursday when all hell broke loose. Mark, datsun1500 actually brought it to my attention. Every one started receiving errors when they tried to post any thing at all. I was on a road trip for business and did not have the time to deal with it. I was up at the lake this past weekend and had no internet access. I got back to Nevada Sunday and started trying to troubleshoot the problem. My host provider swears they did not change anything and basically said I was on my own to get it fixed. The real problem was that phpbb.com had been hacked and was down for clean-up. Not the phpbb software mind you but a third party application they use. Phpbb.com had put up a temporary support forum but the response was highly lacking. I am sure they are busy with their own issues. They are still down for the count. I tried a bunch of different things and nothing worked. Trust me I was getting very frustrated. The good thing is I always do full backups so I had a copy of the database and files before I disabled the forum last week. So I had to use Google to try to find a fix. Thank god for the instant translation as that is where I found the solution on a French phpbb support forum. God, I love the internet. Really happy to be back in business.
