Royal National Park Sydney. Drive from Audley through to Stanwell Park. Best to go on a week day out of holidays. FYI for our American cousins Royal National Park was created in 1879 one year before Yosemite.

The Brindabella. Great loop road west of Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory. Home of the Brindabella Motor Sport Club (http://www.bmsc.com.au" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). Lots of dirt roads off the Cotter loop for sideways action in the state forest.

LOL! I used to be a member of the Historic Rally Assoc. in Victoria, and bought my roadster half thinking its power to weight might make it a good rally car. Then I did a passage control one night and thought about the track I was negotiating slowly, trying not to take out my 7 litre alloy sump! Dirt roads and Datsun Roadsters? Not my ideal mix.

Cheers,
Steve

I was going to save this, but you've prompted me. I have to find some old photos and scan them. The Great Ocean Road is what heaven will be like when I get there - beautiful coastline, great pubs, and mile after mile of twisty, curvy, tight, brilliant roads! You drive for *hours* with only a couple of slow downs for little hamlets, and there probably is only about a kilometre of straight road along the whole lot. I waited for, oh, about a fortnight after buying my roadster before going down there. One of the world's best roads. It's tiring, though. I like to make a day of it, stay at the other end at a nice B&B, and then blast back the next day! Can't wait for late Feb - I'll be taking leave and trying out the new motor and suspension setup down there. More photos after that!

Cheers,
Steve

Not done this in my roadster but the drive from Jindabyne via Tom Groggin, Kancoban and back through the Park to Cabramurra, Kiandra to Cooma is a great drive. A great additional day trip is the summer climb to Charlotte's Pass.

I came in here to write about the road through the Royal National Park but see Matty has mentioned it already. I used to live in Bundeena ('84 to '86) which is a small village surrounded by the park. I owned my '68 2000 back then and just loved the drive through there. Can not wait until I get to do it again in another Datsun roadster. Hopefully it will be sooner than later.
