How links work on new version.

Post by reblues »

I am not sure if this is something I have changed or it is a feature of the new software. It used to be when I clicked on a link it would open in a new window. Now it opens in the same window and I have to use the back function instead of just closing the new window. I made some changes on my system during the time the update was being loaded, but I cannot find an option that changes it back to how I like it. Runing XP pro and IE 7.

Yeah, that's the way it's working now. I also find it annoying to have to remember to click the BACK button and hope I'm still logged in. Don't know if that's a new feature or setting.

Steve?

Okay, I think I have it hacked so the new forum opens links as the old one did in a new window. phpBB3 definitely broke that function. Let me know if you still see a problem. Thanks.

Hi Steve,
I tried the youtube links and they still open in the same window and have the sidebar frame.
As I recall, there is an option in the admin control panel to have "links open in new window" or something. It could be more geekish like "link initiates new browser event" or something. It's never straight forward.

I wish it was that easy but it is not. I applied some mods to the code that were suppose to fix it. It works inconsistently. I tried the YouTube links as well as you are right it does not work. Two steps forward-three steps back.

Thanks Steve. All the links open in a new window for me now. Even the youtube ones.
