American Dash Cap Issue

Post by RHale »

This info is a heads-up for anyone thinking of purchasing a roadster dash cap from American Dash Cap in Meridian, ID.

I purchased the dash cap on 3/5/2024, shipping was fast and the packaging was first class.

Issue was when the cap when centered around the clock, the fix around gauges and light switch was way off. Overall left to right was good. After 6 emails with video, pictures and requested measurements from American Dash Cap along with 3 phone calls, communication as gone silent.

Based on experience, be careful when doing business with American Dash Cap.

Welcome. Sorry to hear of your troubles... pretty frustrating I'm sure. I hope it ultimately gets resolved. We have a few vendors who may offer options, and there are some pretty talented folks here who may give you other options, if not for this, perhaps other stuff. I certainly have been amazed at what some folks can do!

Thanks for the heads up. Good luck!

I've often said... customer service is what I value. Sucks when it's lacking. The only cavort I have is, if it's a small family owned business, sometimes things happen that nobody can plan for. Or maybe they suffered some calamity. Other than that, when things go wrong (and sometimes they do!) it's how they handle it that matters to me. Last summer I had to have a custom set of pistons pins made after I had one shatter. Somehow the order got lost, and there was a wait time for custom machining that had already gone by. After I called and asked about my order ("Order, what order?") the sales person who found the error appologized, then hand walked it to the shop and requested an expedited service (three days instead of two weeks), which they accomplished, and shipped them 2 day to me no extra cost. Yes, it cost me some time, but I wasn't upset because they took care of the issue.

Your experience has been better than mine. Still waiting after quality issue and no response from ADC. Vendor of dash has been helpful. Had to stop payment to get ADC to even respond. Even after returning bad dash pad and reversing the stop payment. Weeks have gone by with only one response from ADC. I guess it’s wait and hope.

Bummer on that.
So the dash cap has been sent back? Do you need a solution to make that one work, (which is only a maybe) or are you left at square one?

If you don't mind the question, how far off was the clock hole when the gauge holes were correctly aligned?
(sounds like someone may have made the pattern and not accounted for material shrinkage)
Anyway, if stuck with it they can be "adjusted", but it is very time consuming and error prone process, only to be done for a one-off.

When the cap was centered around the clock, the fit around the gauges and headlight switch was off by 1/2 inch. Cap did not cover the left side of dash. When placed around the gauges, clock and glove was off. Over length was correct. The company that makes the dash cap, Accuform has been great to work with and stated there is an error in the dash cap. I returned at their request. The problem now is American Dash Cap, the seller, will not respond to emails or phone calls. If I do not get a new dash cap or my money back soon, will post on all the automotive clubs sites to be careful with doing business with American Dash Cap.

Assuming return of the dash or the funds, is there an option to go direct to Accuform?

Good news to report. Received an email today advising my dash will shipped in few days.

Accuform sells the dash pad to American Dash Cap. I do not believe I was able to buy directly from Accuform.

Is American Dashcap addressing the issue, or did Accuform directly step-in?

My previous interactions with Accuform directly have been good.

They do sell directly: https://accuformplastics.com/products/a ... f55d&_ss=r

Good luck.

Accuform are the ones who worked with the fit issue. Received the replacement cap on Friday and happy to report the fit is perfect The cap is sold thru American DashCap. Will report after the cap is installed.
