16x7/7.5 et 38

Post by Yeep740 »

Have an opportunity to grab a set of ssr’s with these offsets. I know they are approx 1/2” off from what is ideal but could I make them work with Dean’s comp spring setup?

Thanks!

a few things can happen when trying to run FWD offset wheels.
-Caliper interference
-sway bar interference
-if you try to make up for the offset by using a spacer, you risk hitting the stock fender flares

Anything can be made to "fit", ie modify fender flares or play with tire sizes. Lowering makes things even tighter!

ps...usually those FWD wheels have really small center bores that won't stand a chance clearing the roadster's massive front hubs.

They won't fit without significant spacers.

I think I would look for a wheel that fits without all the extra effort to make them fit. Long term you might get very frustrated with making them work.

That's too bad, but hopefully they are made in a rwd offset... they would be awesome on the right car.

I should clarify my previous assumption (made without seeing the wheels in question): +38 is common/OEM fitment for the Nissan 240SX, which is a RWD car! Miata's and other RWD cars also have very high offset wheels.

Big spacers are the devil's game... we don't recommend them.
